Autumn Inspired Colour Schemes 2019

The crisp cool air brushing against your cheek – a sweet welcome of the autumn season. Once the spell envelopes the trees, you cannot help but stop in your tracks to admire their newfound beauty. I believe the comfort, warmth and whimsical nature that is the autumn season should be celebrated, so why not get started with some autumn inspired colour schemes!

All of the colours mentioned here can be found at Benjamin Moore. I’ve listed the colour names and numbers as a quick and easy reference. Not only does Benjamin Moore have a plethora of paint colours to choose from, but they contain zero-VOCs and also qualify for LEED v4 credits. LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, and is an internationally recognized rating system that supports green building and sustainable design practices. I will be doing a blog post on the basics of LEED, so if you’re interested in learning more – stay tuned!

Just as a kind note, I am not sponsored by Benjamin Moore. I just simply love their various collections and their willingness to provide eco-friendly paints and product options.

I hope the following colour schemes help you get thinking about autumn and its many possibilities.

So let’s begin!

THE ENCHANTED FOREST

This first colour scheme presents, what some may call, “the quintessential colours of autumn.” A variation of subdued greens mixed with a grounding turmeric yellow, and a rich festive orange alongside a red/orange blaze. This image reminds me of landscapes often found in the rural parts of Canada. It is worth taking the scenic route when travelling up north this time of year and bear witness to nature’s pure enchantment. I believe this colour scheme perfectly showcases the transitional essence that is the autumn season; this euphoric interlude between summer and winter.

PUMPKIN DREAMS

This second colour scheme has a deeper moody autumn vibe compared to the first bright colour scheme. Here we have a rich plum purple; pumpkin-loving orange; warm olive green (a more yellow tone than the previous grey-toned greens) and two variations of rustic brown neutrals for a grounding balance. This unique set of colours just makes you want to curl up in a warm blanket, sip a pumpkin spice latte, and drift off to dreamland, as soft jazz music plays delicately in the background. Lovely for a cozy night in.

This third colour scheme has a lighter essence to it. If you’re looking to feel the coziness of autumn, but want a neutral approach to the season – this colour scheme is for you! There are two types of tans presented here. One is a warm Tuscan tan, while the other is a cinnamon spiced coffee. They are sitting by a waterfront blue, anchored by a crisp white and basking under a golden sunflower yellow. Perfect for a clear sky autumn afternoon.

Final Thoughts

The dawn of warm blankets, cozy reading socks, and the tantalizing scent of apple cinnamon tea is upon us. I’ve always believed autumn to be a time when things slowed down, after the rush of summer fun. A time for a deeper level of self-reflection, and to serve as a reminder that there is a simple beauty in letting things go.

I hope you incorporate some, or all of these colour schemes into this years autumn season, and that it brings you much comfort and joy.

If you need any guidance, or help with colour selection, you can always book an online/ in-person consultation with me, and I would be glad to help you in any way I can.

Until my next post, enjoy the lovely autumn season and stay cozy! x
